FAQ's
What is the difference between a hard hat and a safety helmet?
The terms are often used interchangeably, but there is a practical difference. Traditional hard hats protect the top and sides of the head from falling objects and impacts. Modern safety helmets typically add chin straps and enhanced side-impact protection for higher-risk environments. The right choice comes down to the specific hazards your team faces on site.
Â
How do I know which hard hat class is right for my job?
Hard hats are classified by their level of electrical protection. Class E covers high-voltage environments, Class G suits lower-voltage general use, and Class C offers no electrical protection but is used where conductivity is not a concern. Identify the electrical risks on your site before selecting. Choosing the wrong class in a high-voltage environment is not a risk worth taking.
Â
How long does a hard hat last before it needs replacing?
Most manufacturers recommend replacing the shell every two to five years and the suspension system every twelve months, even with no visible damage. UV exposure, chemical contact, and heat all degrade the materials faster than you might expect. If a hat takes a significant impact, replace it immediately regardless of how it looks. The damage that matters is often invisible.
Â
Can I add accessories like visors or chin straps to any hard hat?
Not all accessories are universally compatible. Visors, earmuffs, and chin straps are designed to fit specific models, and fitting the wrong accessory can compromise the hat's protective performance. TigerPak can advise on compatible accessories for your hat so your team stays protected without cutting corners.
Â
Can hard hats be branded or customised for our team?
Yes. TigerPak offers customisation options including company logos and colour choices. Beyond the professional appearance, custom branding helps with site visibility and team identification, which matters in busy, high-risk environments where quick recognition can prevent accidents.
