What is the difference between cut resistant and cut proof gloves?
No glove can guarantee zero cut risk. "Cut proof" is a marketing term, not a safety standard. Cut resistant gloves are independently tested and rated to withstand a defined level of cutting force, so you know exactly what protection your team is getting. What cut resistance level do I need?
It depends on what your team is working with. Kitchen and light assembly tasks typically require a lower cut level (A1 to A3), while industrial handling, glass work, or metal fabrication demands a higher rating (A4 to A9). Using the wrong class of glove is one of the most common causes of preventable hand injuries on the job. Check the ANSI/ISEA or EN388 rating before you buy.

Can cut resistant gloves also protect against stabs and punctures?
Not automatically. Stab resistant gloves are built with tighter weaves or layered materials specifically engineered to resist puncture forces from sharp points like needles or wire. Cut resistance and stab resistance are different ratings, so if your team faces both risks, check the product specs carefully rather than assuming one covers the other.

How do I know when to replace my cut resistant gloves?
Look for fraying, thinning fabric, holes, or stiffness. If you can see it, the glove has already lost protective integrity and needs to be replaced immediately. Even without visible damage, protective fibres degrade with heavy daily use over time. A worn-out glove offers little better protection than no glove at all.
